Ahadu Bank has secured a semi finished high rise building in the Mexico area of Addis Ababa, marking a major milestone for the young bank as it strengthens its position in Ethiopia’s banking sector.
The property consists of two basement levels and 15 upper floors. The bank reportedly emerged as the highest bidder in an auction conducted by Nib International Bank on May 21, 2026, with the bid later accepted. The acquisition is expected to provide Ahadu Bank with its own high rise headquarters and support its long term expansion plans.
Alongside the property acquisition, Ahadu Bank has launched two mobile applications as part of its digital banking drive: Ahadu Le Kulu, designed for retail customers, and Mahder, developed for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Ahadu Le Kulu was developed entirely in-house by the bank’s technology and software team. Board Chairman Anteneh Sebsibe said the app reflects the bank’s motto, “From the Many to the Many,” by bringing banking services closer to customers.
The app allows users to self register without visiting a branch, check account details, transfer funds, manage daily cash flow and make payments remotely. It also includes artificial intelligence features that analyze user behavior and display frequently used services more prominently. In addition, the app provides weekly spending reports and financial analytics to support better budgeting.
Ahadu Bank said security was central to the platform’s design, noting that it was developed in line with international cybersecurity standards and includes fraud prevention features.
Mahder, meanwhile, serves as a digital vault and operational tool for MSMEs, enabling business owners to track sales, expenses and performance through their smartphones.
