The Ministry of Industry unveiled an ambitious plan for the upcoming Let Ethiopia Produce Expo and Bazaar. The five-day event, starting May 9th at the Millennium Hall, aims to generate Birr three billion in market linkages between Ethiopian manufacturers and domestic and international buyers.

"This expo is a crucial platform to showcase the productivity of our manufacturing industries," said Industry State Minister Tarekegn Bululta during a press briefing. He emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the sector through strong policies and strategies, benefiting both established industries and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Over 200 companies will participate in the expo, representing sectors such as leather goods, textiles, construction materials, automobiles, electronics, and more. Roughly 120 of these are large-scale industries, while the remaining 80 are SMEs.

The event expects to attract 50,000 visitors, including embassy representatives, foreign nationals, and students. A photo exhibition showcasing the evolution of Ethiopian manufacturing will be on display alongside discussions focused on finance, strategy, and infrastructure.

"We aim to address key challenges faced by manufacturers, including access to materials, financing, and infrastructure," explained Minister Tarekegn. "Let Ethiopia Produce is a movement to establish Ethiopia as a leading industrial nation, with a focus on sustainable, competitive, and capable producers."

The movement prioritizes import substitution and cost reduction. By fostering market linkages and showcasing industry potential, the expo aims to achieve these goals. The program will conclude with an awards ceremony recognizing individuals and entities who have significantly contributed to import substitution and export market growth.
