Ethiopia Building another Agro-Processing Industrial Park

The construction of Bae’her Agro Processing Industrial Park has been started after being delayed for a year. The industrial park is being constructed in Western Tigray Zone, Tigray State.

The park was being constructed at an outlay of 1.4 billion Birr, Angesom Gebremeskel, manager of Tigray’s industry parks corporation, explained. The park would be built in 2 phases.

The first phase will be constructed over 258 hectares of land and it scheduled to be concluded within a year time. Other 120 shades would be built under the second phase, Angesom explained.

According to Angesom, the park is being constructed upon considering the needs of investors and agricultural and dairy products in western and north western Tigray zones

The design for the park was prepared by an Indian firm and the construction would be undertaken by Sur Construction PLC, Asegedom furthered.

Out of the entire shades to be built, 82 percent will be reserved for local investors while the rest will be distributed between foreign investors.

In related development, another integrated agro-processing industrial park will be built in Southern Raya Zone. It was Mekelle University given the task fof preparing the design, Asegedom noted.
