Ethiopia: Asseco Signed Contract Worth 1.3 Million USD with INSA

Asseco Poland has started a new project in the African market. It will be carried out in Ethiopia, in collaboration with Information Network Security Agency (INSA), a local entity. The project is valued at USD 1.3m net. It’s implementation will take nine months.

INSA is an Ethiopian government institution based in Addis Ababa, focusing on national security, building IT skills and competencies, and implementation of IT projects in Ethiopia. Asseco Poland and INSA signed a new contract covering wide range of tasks – including consultancy work in the area of ERP solutions development and billing within the energy sector, as well as provision of Document Management System type of software. Asseco Poland, DahliaMatic, and Asseco Lithuania will all cooperate on the project, with Asseco Poland performing bulk of the work under the contract.

Tomasz Bendlewski, Director of Energy and Gas Division at Asseco Poland: Strengthening Asseco Poland’s presence on foreign markets is part and parcel of the company’s development policy. Upon signing the previous contract in Ethiopia we said that we want to carry on growing in Africa, not only within the energy sector. This project is another step in that direction. It also marks Poland out as a country that offers innovative technologies to developing economies.

The new contract complements another task performed by the Polish company for INSA in Ethiopia; that one consists of implementing a measurement collection and management system for electricity meters data. Based of acquired software and knowledge transfer, Asseco Poland is developing a complex solution for the Ethiopian energy sector. It will be used by the Ethiopian Electric Power, a local enterprise. INSA will then be responsible for its further development and maintenance. It plans to use the skills thus acquired in its following projects.

Cooperation between Asseco Poland and the Information Network Security Agency dates back to April 2013. It encompasses efforts aimed at building a modern energy market in Ethiopia, which will include the deployment and implementation of Asseco’s proprietary Utility Management Solutions software. It is valued at USD 7.4m, making it by far the largest ever contract for implementation of IT systems by a Polish company in Africa.
