Ethiopia: AACRA Concluded Road Construction Agreements Worth 878 Million Birr

Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) has concluded contracts with 5 different local contractors for the construction of 11.7 kilometers asphalt roads in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The contracts are worth a total of 878 million Birr.

The construction firms that reached upon the agreements with the Authority were Diriba Defersha General Contractor, TACO Construction PLC, Yemane Girmay General Contracto, Senan and Ethio General Contractor.

According to Fortune, the roads are going to be 20 meters to 30 meters wide. The asphalt roads will be in the eastern part of Addis Ababa. The routes are going to be; Ararat Hotel – Kotebe College, Ethiopian Civil Service College – Gurd Sholla and roads connecting condominium sites around Bole Arabsa and Ayat.

Commenting on the development AARA’s head, Engineer Habtamu Tegegn, said “These projects will contribute to improving road infrastructure of housing projects”.

By the end of the last fiscal year, Addis Ababa’s road network increased by 550 kilometers and reached 5,915 kilometers. And in 3 years’ time the Authority intends to increase the city’s road coverage to 25 percent.
