Government Houses Agency disclosed it managed to generate an income close to 150 million Birr in the first 6 months of the current fiscal year. The performance is 12 percent lower than the preceding year’s same period.

The income was from lease fees paid by customers for renting 16,919 estates administered by the Agency. From the entire income, the largest contribution was from rented houses used for residential purpose which brought in 133.2 million Birr.

The performance by the Agency was only 86 percent of the target set at the beginning of the year. The plan was to generate 164.4 million Birr in 6 months time.

It was in 2014 that the Agency was re-established under the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.
