United Insurance Company S.C. (UNIC), one of the insurance firms in Ethiopia, disclosed it started online insurance sales starting from January 1, 2017. The scheme allows clients to buy insurance policies online after transferring payments to the insurer’s bank account.

The policies United made available for online purchase include travel insurance, motor, third party insurance and funeral insurance.

The online platform, according to Fortune, was developed by the Indian based company Assuer Tech. The company is said to have a 20 years experience in developing information communication technology system as well as insurance related software.

According to UNIC’s Marketing Manager, Mesfin Eyasu, the IT firm is active in the Middle East and the African market. IT has established more than 20 portals in the United Arab Emirates.

In the aim of making payment transfers easier for clients, UNIC is currently working with Zemen Bank, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and United Bank S.C. The insurance company also plans to make similar deals with other banks.
