National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) will launch implementing check standardization system as of January 1, 2016, Capital reported.

The new system will ensure bank checks across Ethiopia are uniform and heighten financial security.

The standardization checks are to be used by all financial firms in Ethiopia starting from January 1, 2016, NBE stated. NBE has planned to introduce the system in 2013, though various issues had delayed the implementation for three years.

NBE is expected officially announced the start of standardized checks at a ceremony to be held on Thursday December 31, 2015 at Hilton Hotel.
