15 Local Companies in Ethiopia Win Federal Procurement Bid

The Public Procurement and Property Disposal Services (PPPDS) has inked a deal worth 343 million Birr with 15 local companies for the procurement of stationery, toners and sanitary equipment for the federal offices, according to Capital.

PPPDS has floated an international procurement bid. Close to 75 companies participated and many of them were foreign companies. Even if 15 percent of marginal preference was given to local companies, 15 locals have won the tender.

The local companies; Dana Das Trading, A.S Trading, East Africa Trading, Addis Image Trading, Zipanna Trading, Tonner Addis Trading, Mass PLC, Amma Paper PLC, Yekatit Paper Converting Enterprise, Repi Soap & Detergent SC, Inter PLC, Soloda Paper Works and Lehabba Toner have inked a deal on December 25, 2015, with PPPDS.

According to the deal, these companies will also supply items for 2016/17 and 2017/18.

Director of PPPDS Yigezu Daba at the signing ceremony said: “Two years ago, we only had one local company participating in the federal office equipment procurement, but now it has reached 15.”
