Iceland to Support Investors Involving in Geothermal Energy Development in Ethiopia

Iceland government is willing to support investors from Iceland to involve in the development of geothermal energy in Ethiopia, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland.

Minister Gunna Bragi Sveinsson who came to attend the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3), visited the Aluto-Langano Power Plant on July 17, 2015, and discussed with Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Dr. Tedros Adhanom.

Sveinsson in the discussion told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) that “like my country, Ethiopia has abundant geothermal energy potential. Hence, my government will support investors from Iceland to exploit this potential.”

Sveinsson noted, Reykjavik Geothermal Ltd (RG), an Icelandic Company, which involved in the development of geothermal energy in Ethiopia with 4 billion USD, is on processes to generate 1, 000 MW.
