Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) prepared a five-year strategic plan for an Ethiopian Enterprise engaged in production and export of footwear, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

This is COMESA’s first strategic plan made for the private sector.

Mwinykione Mwinyihija, Executive Director of COMESA Leather and Leather Products Institute (LLPI), said the Institute has been preparing such documents for government organizations.

The potential for better performance of Ethio International Footwear Cluster Cooperative Society caused COMESA to prepare the strategic plan.

Kidane Haile, Chairman of the Enterprise said the document is instrumental in filling gaps related to skill, equipments and finance.

The Enterprise exported 103,000 pair of shoes to the Africa Market in two years, 2004 and 2005 E.C.
