Ethiopia: Castel Winery Enlarges its Vineyard to Meet Market Demand

Castel WineryCastel Winery Ethiopia is enlarging its farmland with the value of Euros 100 million to boost production of grapes, Capital reported.

The Winery has 162 hectares of grape farm land and produces 1.1 million bottled wine a year both for the local and export market.

Alemtsehay Bekele, Sales and Marketing Director of Castel Winery said “We will be cultivating an additional 70 hectares of land to meet the market demand. After the expansion, we will be able to produce 1.8 million bottles yearly.”

The additional farmland is for the growing of White grapes because white wine has high market demand.
Castel is known for the production of varieties of wine such as Acacia Dry Red, Acacia Medium Sweet Red and Acacia Medium Sweet White.
