Ethiopia: ASKY Appointed Its New CEO

asky airlines logoHenok Teferra, Vice President for Corporate Strategy Communications and Alliances at Ethiopian Airlines is to take over from the outgoing CEO of ASKY, Yissehak Zewoldi, The Reporter reported.

ASKY is a pan African airline based in Lomé. Ethiopian has a 40 percent stake in ASKY and a five year management and technical service agreements with ASKY.

The Board of Directors of ASKY approved the appointment on May 8 and it will be effective from May 18, 2015.

A statement issued by ASKY reads “Top airline executive with solid experience and diplomatic skills, Henock had the opportunity to prove himself at international level and has shown huge leadership abilities. His various qualifications led him to oversee the development and implementation of the business strategy that has made Ethiopian Airlines the largest African airline whose growth rate is the highest on the continent.”

ASKY was founded by the private sector in West Africa in collaboration with the Ethiopian Airlines in 2008. The passenger airline started operations in January 2010.

ASKY Airlines operates scheduled flight services to 22 destinations across West and Central Africa.
