Ethiopia Obtains USD 281 Million from Mineral Export

The Ministry of Mines (MoM) announced that it has collected USD 281 million in revenue from the export of different minerals during the past nine months in this Ethiopian fiscal year, Walta Information Center (WIC) reported.

Bacha Faji, MoM Public Relations and Communications Director, told WIC the revenue was obtained from the export of 7,352.2 kilogram of processed and 2,803.8 kilogram of raw Gold, 152.9 kilogram of Gemstone, 48,147 kilogram of Opal, 353 tons of Marble, 3.88 kilogram of Platinum and 33 tons of Tantalum.

The exported minerals were produced by companies and artisanal miners, he added.

The mining sector has created jobs for 82,827 nationals, he furthered.
