ZTE Launches 4G Terminal Devices in Ethiopia

ZTE, China’s prominent global telecom equipment and solution supplier, inaugurated its 4G terminal devices on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, according to Xinhua.

"Now we see a great opportunity in Ethiopia to introduce our 4G terminal devices. We hope the society (of Ethiopia) will benefit from our best-standard products," said CEO of ZTE Ethiopia, Jia Chen in his opening speech at the launch ceremony.

At the occasion, ZTE’s latest 4G smart phones, Grand S2 and Blade S6 were displayed and will be launched in Ethiopia in the months to come.

The company’s move appears soon after Ethio Telecom launched 4G services in Ethiopia.

Jia said the company will develop affordable 4G smart phones to meet the demand in the country for high speed data and voice service.

Ethiopia’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Getachew Negash, mentioned the contribution of Chinese telecom companies along with ZTE to the development of the country’s telecom sector.

He also confirmed the government would extend support needed for ZTE in its work in Ethiopia.

ZTE has also signed Ethiopia’s long-distance great Haile Gebresilassie at its brand ambassador of terminal products at the occasion.

ZTE is one of the top three global 4G providers and sold 100 million mobile apparatuses along with 48 million smart phones in 2014 in the global market.
