Ethiopia: Authority Signs Road Construction Agreement with Three Companies

Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) has signed contracts with three companies for road constructions in various parts of Ethiopia, here in Addis on April 15, 2015 at its head office. ERA’s acting director, Sisay Bekele signed contracts with China Railway Seventh Group Limited Company, China's First High Way Engineering Limited Company and Ethiopia’s Defense Construction Enterprise.

The project is worth Birr 4.8 billion and its entire cost is covered by the government of Ethiopia, according to The Ethiopian Herald.

Sisay Bekele at the signing ceremony said, the signed agreement is necessitated as part of the government’s plan of the Fourth Road Development Project, to standardize currently operating roads in various parts of Ethiopia.

The project covers the Sodo Tercha, Omo River Tercha, Gash-Lalibela-sekota and Dicheto-Galafi, Elidar-Belho roads, Sisay indicated.

The Sodo Tercha project is going to be constructed by China Railway Company and covers 83.4 kilometers. The Gash and Lalibela-Sekota road covering 98.7 kilometers will be undertaken by China First High Way Engineering Limited Company.

The project involves different drainage systems and other structural works.

The Dicheto-Galafi and Elidar-Beliho project located in Afar State, covers 80.5 kilometers and it will be undertaken by the local Defense Construction Company.
