Ethiopia’s Inflation Rate Rises to 8.5 Percent in March

Ethiopia’s inflation rate had risen to 8.5 percent in March from 8.2 percent in February, Central statistics Agency said on Monday, April 6, 2015.

Food price inflation rose to 10.1 percent from 9.6 percent, due to rise in the prices of items like cereals, vegetables and fruits, Reuters Africa reported.

The inflation rate has also increased on non-food items from 6.8 percent to 6.9 as prices rose for clothing and chat—a leafy plant chewed as a stimulant in East Africa.
