Ministry of Industry (MoI) revealed plastic pipe demands are being met by local plastic factories.

Yonas Abate from the Ministry noted MoI is working with the Ethiopian Customs and Revenues Authority (ERCA) and Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) to implement scheme that will enable the nation to substitute plastic pipes.

The past five years have seen a remarkable growth in annual production of the plastic sector. The annual production of Ethiopia has grown from 28,656 tons to 61,656 tons within those years. Its job creation and linking market is also impressive.

Currently there are close to 200 plastic factories in Ethiopia.
