Oromia Revenues and Customs Authority disclosed it has already met the target it has set for the five years Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP I) period.

It has managed to collect 29 billion Birr in the past four and half years which is 9 billion Birr greater than its target, Authority Director General Yohanes Dinkayehu, explained. He furthered the Authority has manage to collect 7 billion Birr in the past six months of the current fiscal year, which is a billion Birr higher than the target.

He said the success is attributable to the introduction of modern tax systems and establishment of groups of tax payers which enhanced the implementation of the introduced system. These groups are said to have enhanced 150,000 illegal traders to join the legal taxpaying channel.

Number of taxpayers have doubled in the five years and reached 300,000 because of intensive efforts, Marketing Bureau Head Bahiru Ashine, explained.
