Central Statistics Agency (CSA) disclosed Ethiopia’s population has reached 87.9 million.

It was seven years ago in 2007 the Agency conducted its last census and projected the population growth model. It is the same model that is the basis for the report CSA made public on Friday, February 6, 2015 and analyzed on July 2014.

The agency explained the growth rate is quite ordinary and complementary with the economic growth Ethiopia is achieving. The current population growth rate is 2.4%, the Agency noted.

Back in 2007 when the last census was conducted, Ethiopia’s population numbered 73.8 million. By 2017, the report noted, the number of urban dwellers will reach 31% of the entire population.
