Ethiopia: Tedros Met US Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President

Tedros Adhanom (Dr.), Ethiopia’s Foreign Afffaris Minister, met with the US Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice-President and Head of International Affairs, Myron A. Brilliant, on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

During his visit, Brilliant disclosed preparations are being carried out to open the Chamber of Commerce here in Ethiopia in the aim of strengthening partnership with its Ethiopian counterpart.

He also discussed on new ways that could improve the East African nation’s place in the US market and also US investment in Ethiopia. The later is said to help utilize the opportunities that are presented by the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Tedros on his part said the growing ties between US and the African continent with regard to economy and business are welcome and will create sustainable years of partnership.

To illustrate his point Tedros sighted the success of the recent US-Africa Summit and the other successful business for a Ethiopia held recently in Huston and Los Angeles.

The two also discussed Ethiopia’s interest in building national image for the purpose of branding activities and possible opportunities to showcase Ethiopia.

Commenting on this Brilliant said US Chamber of Commerce’s experiences will be in hand and it can provide partners to build up the image of Ethiopia across the globe.

Tedros pointed out U.S investments could provide jobs in Ethiopia as Ethiopian Airlines has created jobs for Americans by ordering Boeing aircraft.

In addition to all these, the talk between the two also extended to the need to widen various trade and investment activities.
