Ethiopia: Qatari Investor to Invest USD 500 Million

Leader of the Qatari business delegation that came to Ethiopia, Sheikh Fahad Ahmed M.T Al Thani, disclosed he intends to launch 4 investment projects that are worth USD 500 Million.

The business delegation held talks on Friday, January 16, 2015 with President Mulatu Teshome and the President explained to the business tycoons the government will consolidate its support to investors.

Mulatu also noted Qatari investors will benefit by investing in the Ethiopian market for the nation’s geographic proximity.

Sheik Fahad Al Thani said he has been to different investments sites in Ethiopia and that he made the decision to make the investment. He intends to open a cement factory at Dire Dawa, a sugar factory at Bair Dar and animal fatting plant in Harra. He also has the intention to open an anti-malaria and cosmetic factory.

The delegation leader also extended its request to Mulatu for the provision of necessary support for the realization of the projects.
