The federal legislative organ, House of Peoples Representatives (HPR), ratified two agreements the Ethiopian government concluded with International Development Associations (IDA) for the finance of productive safety net project and the regional pastoral livelihood resilience project. The finance agreements sum is USD 675 Million.

It was back in October and November 2014 the finance agreements were concluded respectively.

USD 600 Million is forwarded by IDA for the safety net projects while USD 75 Million is extended for regional pastoral livelihood resilience projects. The safety net project is expected to include food security in the rural areas, for disaster management and prevention as well as institutional capacity building. On the other hand the finance for pastorals is going to be extended for the minimization of vulnerability of pastoral community to drought, poverty reduction and food security endeavor.

Close to 10 million people living in Dire Dawa city and the states of Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples, Somalia and Harari are going to benefit from the project.
