The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is going to make an official visit to Ethiopia later this month.

He is expected to reach to Ethiopia on Thursday, January 22, 2014 with a large delegation of ministers, bureaucrats and business tycoons. During his one day visit he will meet with President Mulatu Teshome and Prime Minister Haile Mariam Desaleg, while co-chairing inter-delegation meetings.

This is going to be the first official visit for Erdogan since the New Year. After visiting Ethiopia he is scheduled to travel to another East African country, Djibouti.

There are going to be business forums during the President’s visit and it is expected review of bilateral cooperation is going to take place. In addition to this, review of regional issues and developments in the African continent will also take place.

Back in 2005 Turkey had only 12 embassies in the African continent. Currently Turkey has 35 embassies in Africa, second only to France. Most of them were opened in the past few years.
