Ethiopia: DARO Opens New Branch in Addis

Documents Authentication and Registration Office (DARO) opened a new branch in the capital city around CMC area. The branch is the 11th branch for the office and the 10th for the capital city.

The nine branches that operate in Addis Ababa are located at Mexico, Lanchia, Megenagna, Ameste Kilo, Gullile, Kaliti, Ayer Tena, Bambis, Nifas Silke Lafto, and Lideta. It is the new CMC branch that took the number to 10.

The office also has a branch in Dire Dawa.

It was back in 1970 the office was established. Late in 2003 it was restructured as DARO and it became the only notary office in Ethiopia by authenticating and registering documents. It now provides direct public service for more than one million customers through the 11 branches.

In the past fiscal year DARO provided services to 1,099,039 clients. This figure is beyond what it anticipated for the fiscal year. Its plan was to serve 1,005,200

clients, which means its accomplishment rate is 109 percent. The office’s performance also shows over achievement when it comes to the money it collected. Its aim was to generate 160 Million Birr during the period yet it collected 171 Million Birr, seven percent above the projection.
