Ethiopia: New Oil Company Enters Ethiopian Market

Tebarek Oil is set to join the Ethiopian market from the coming January 2015 as the tenth distributor. It has its depot located at Awash Town.

The new local oil company plans to have five filing stations; two in the capital city and one in Modjo, Dilla and Hawassa.

It is said ever station will create job opportunities for 20 employees on the 4,000 square meters land they will be build upon. The stations are going to be equipped with one stop service in which it tries to deliver different services in a single station such as car wash, laundry and pharmaceutical services, according to the company.

The Ethiopian fuel distribution is dominated by four companies; Oil Libya, Total, National Oil Ethiopia (NOC), YetebaberutBeherawi Petroleum (YBP). These companies take 89 percent of the total distribution stake. The rest 11 percent goes to Kobil, Dalol Oil S.C., WadiAlsundus, a Sudanese Company,Nile and TAF oil S.C.

Tebarek’s initial capital was five million Birr. Yet the company intends to expand this to 100 Million Birr in the future.
