During an annual award held at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier, was voted as the Best Airline of the Year from Africa by the KLIA.
It was two years ago on Sunday, October 31, 2012 that Ethiopian started flying to Kuala Lumpur.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam, commented on the development saying: "We are highly honored by the recognition from Kuala Lumpur Airport, one of the best airport hubs in Asia. Ethiopian is the airline of choice for travelers between Africa and Asia, thanks to our extensive network, ideal connectivity options with minimum layover in Addis Ababa and our globally recognized African flavored Ethiopian hospitality. In 2015, we plan to further expand our service in Asia by starting flights to Tokyo and Manila and avail better connectivity options for our esteemed customers."
This is the third award Ethiopian secured since the last August. Back in August 2014 the airline was voted as the Best Airline in Africa by Passenger Choice Awards, which actually is the most extensive survey of passengers in the industry.
In November 2014 it got its award from African Airlines Association (AFRAA) which hailed and awarded Ethiopian as the Best in Africa.
