Ethiopia: ECX Opened Two New Branches

ecxIn the aim of reaching every part of Ethiopia, Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (EXC) opened two new branches in northern part of the country that are known for their sesame production.

The two branches are opened in Shiraro and Abreha cities which are found in Tigray State and Amhara State respectively.

The interim CEO of ECX, Shimelis Habtewold, noted the two new branches are going to have multifaceted importance. He explained, “In addition to making warehouse and laboratory facilities available to the farmers and suppliers of these high sesame growing areas, the branches will significantly improve accessibility of ECX services to the market actors’’.

The opening of these two new branches took the total number of ECX branches to 19.

The Shiraro branch is intended to facilitate the trade of commodities that are originated from Tselemti, Asgede Tsimbla, Tahtay Adyabo and other woredas of Tigray State.

On the other hand the Abreha Jira branch is opened for the purpose of facilitating trade between Abrehajira, Abderafi, Korhumer and other Woredas of Gonder town, Amhara State.

The warehouses at these branches are going to render services of sampling, weighing and grading of commodities using state-of-the-art technology.
