Ethiopia: Ethiopian Crowned as African Airline of the Year

Ethiopian AirlinesAfrican Airlines Association named Ethiopian Airlines as the African Airline of the Year for a third year in a raw. The Association awarded Ethiopian during its 46th Annual General Assembly which was held in Algiers from Sunday, November 9, 2014 to Tuesday, November 14, 2014.

The award was given to Ethiopian for its performance during the year 2013. A Press Release by the Airline’s explains Ethiopian got the award for its consistent profitability, and sound strategy, which has enabled it to forge win-win partnerships with fellow sisterly African airlines.

Commenting on the development Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam, noted; “We are highly honored for this recognition by fellow sisterly airlines in Africa”. He thanked the employees of the Airline’s for the award Ethiopian was given. He also passed his gratitude to the Airline’s customers.

“Although Africa is registering rapid economic and travel growth, this growth is primarily benefiting non-African carriers. The times are really challenging for African airlines, whose very survival is at risk, unless two things happen very quickly”; the CEO furthered.

It was only back in August 2014 the Airline got crowned as the Passenger Choice awards as the Best Airline in African. Ethiopian currently has 84 international destinations with over 200 daily flights.
