An exhibition aimed at strengthening the trade and economic ties of Ethiopia and China was opened on Monday, November 10, 2014 and it is going to stay open for two days.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, more than 100 well-known companies are taking part in the 2014 China Commodities, Technology and Services Expo.

Among others, products that are available at the event are Chinese agricultural products and electrical equipment, automobiles, construction materials and machinery.

During the opening ceremony Minister for Industry, Tadesse Haile, praised China as being Ethiopia’s development partner and explained the exhibition will enable the two countries to exchange their commodities and technology. He furthered the expo will attract more Chinese enterprises to Africa.

Opening the expo, China’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Xie Xiaoyan, noted the exhibition would strengthen the trade and economic ties between China and African countries.

The Ambassador furthered the event will further promote the exchanges and cooperation between the business communities of China and Ethiopia, and act as an important platform for the promotion and development of the economic and trade relations between China, Ethiopia and the rest of Africa.
