Ethiopia: MoHCUD Bought Hi-Tech Equipment Worth 57 Million Birr

Ministry of Housing, Construction and Urban Development (MoHCUD) bought 57 Million Birr worth hi-tech surveying and mapping hardware and software.

The equipment is bought for the purpose of aiding immovable property registration and information of urban land for 23 towns and cities.

According to Fortune the newly bought equipment is going to derive maps from aerial photographs and satellite images.

Nuru Hassan, the technology supply and working procedure coordination and support directorate director at the Federal Integrated Urban Land Information Project Office in the Ministry, commented ““The equipment will help register land parcels and real property with the details of the owner, the area, physical assets and the function of the plot of land. Moreover, high-tech hardware and software are used for the generation, application and dissemination of urban geospatial data in different scales”.

Currently there are 4,800 land and land related professionals attending trainings and being assessed.
