Ethiopia: Investor Changed Boeing 737 to a Hotel

A Boeing 737 aircraft that was owned by Ethiopian Airlines is sold to become a hotel and restaurant in Burayu town, some 15 km west of Addis Ababa.

According to the owner of the new aircraft hotel, Guttama Gutta, the entire cost of purchasing, refurbishing and decoration of the engineless aircraft was around 30 Million Birr.

He furthered, construction, installation and having the aircraft ready for catering took two years.

Guttama made the investment aiming to create a recreational center in Burayu. He explained his intention was to upgrade his previous business and to do so the aircraft business came up.

The services that will be rendered by the new hotel is going to be both indoor and outdoor. The aircraft also has the capacity to host 60 individuals at a time for food and drinks. The owner explained, the restaurant will give services for weddings, birthdays and meetings.

Ethiopian Airlines in addition to selling the aircraft, it provided decorative items and paintings.
