Ethiopia: Agriculture and Food Laboratory to Be Inaugurated

A new laboratory aimed to ensure safety and quality of agricultural and food products is going to be launched in Ethiopia by Food, Drink and Pharmaceuticals Development Institute.

The inauguration of the laboratory built at an outlay of 80 Million Birr is going to be on Saturday, November 1, 2014.

Commenting on the development, Director General of the Institute, Shimelis Admasu, said the inauguration of the laboratory will boost the nation’s export as well as agriculture and related food products output.

He furthered the laboratory will give solutions for the problems being witnessed in the sector by inspecting goods for quality. In addition to this the nation will benefit from the laboratory for it will make the products competitive in the market.

In addition to these benefits the laboratory will save the nation’s time and expense for being so close, the Director General noted. It will also help in the areas of research and dissemination for the center will collaborate with various universities and other government institutions.

Bless Agri Food Laboratory Service PLC’s Board Chairperson, Belete Beyene, on his part said there will be series of trainings in order to produce competent professionals in the country.
