A road that will be used for transporting products of Omo Kuraz Sugar Factory is going to be constructed at an outlay of 1.66 Billion Birr and it will stretch for 79 Kilometers.

Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) gave the construction of the road to the Chinese firm, Sino Hydro Corporation.

Commenting on the development, ERA’s Director-General Zaid Woldegebriel said the construction is going to be carried out in South Omo Zone where there is no infrastructure.

In addition to this, the construction of the road will stop the traffic movement taking place in Mago National Park, which in turn will protect the wild animals of the area.

The 79 Kilometers road which is scheduled to be completed in two years time is expected to link many kebeles and villages of the zone.

The Director General noted Sino Hydro has a respectable record for carrying out over 10 projects during its decade long stay in Ethiopia.
