Ethiopia Earned U.S. $ 9.5 Million from Cement Export

The last Ethiopian budget year witnessed, export of cement to neighboring countries earning the Ethiopia a total of U.S. $ 9.5 Million.

According to Solomon Yohannes, Cement and Related Products Industry Development Directorate Director at the Chemical and Construction Input Institute, the U.S. $ 9.5 Million revenue surpasses the Country’s 2012/2013 fiscal year performance by U.S. $ 9 Million.

He noted Ethiopia’s cement was exported to nations such as Kenya, Djibouti, Somaliland and South Sudan.

The Director furthered currently the local demand has been met and factories will be aided with all necessary support to export the surplus to neighboring countries.

According to Solomon, the plan for the current budget year is to earn U.S. $ 15 Million from cement export.
