The road that connectes Ethiopia and Kenya, Yabelo-Mega road, is inaugurated and is open for traffic.

Speaking on the occasion, Workneh Gebeyhu, Minister for Transport, noted the road is one of the several projects Ethiopia is carrying out to link the nation with its neighbors through infrastructure.

Muktar Kedir, President of Oromia State, on his part commented the road will enable different woredas of Borena Zone get connected. This will enhance provision of health, education and other public services to the local communities, he added.

According to Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA), the road was constructed at an outlay of 740 Million Birr and took three years. The construction was carried out by a Chinese company.
