On Thursday, August 28, 2014 Prime Minster Haile Mariam Desalegn held talks with delegates from Italy, composed of representatives from 25 huge companies and government officials. He discussed with the delegates on investment and trade.

The Premier called onto the Italian delegates to invest in Ethiopia and advised them to engage in agro-processing, agriculture, infrastructure, and tourism sectors.

Commenting on the occasion, the Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Giuseppe Mistretta, noted some of the companies have already started to invest in Ethiopia. He added he plans to bring investors interested in engaging in agro-business, leather and leather products manufacturing industries to Ethiopia.

He further noted the trade relation between the two countries is showing growth in the past three years, yet considering the long standing diplomatic relation it is still low.
