Ethiopia: Abay Bank Launched ATM Service

abay-bankAbay Bank started rendering card banking via Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Abay Bank installed 10 Automatic ATM units at Megenagna Zefmeshe Mall, Bole, Plazza, Tewdros Square and Kera. The newly installed machines are NCR brands and they are supplied by the manufacturer’s local partner, Moti Engineering Plc.

It was in 2010 Abay was established by 1,600 public shareholders; out of which majority are farmer cooperatives and union businessmen. It currently has 71 Branches across the country.

In 2013 the Bank’s total paid-up capital was 306.7 Million Birr and alos had 323.1 Million Birr as a subscribed capital.

According to the Bank’s official website Abay is on it’s final stage of implementing multi-channel banking, such as mobile banking, internet banking and e-commerce.
