Ethiopia: HPR Passed Infrastructure Coordinating Institute Establishment Bill

Ethiopia’s legislative organ at the Federal level, House of People Representatives (HPR), has passed the law that establishes Infrastructure Development Coordinating Institute. The Institute is said to coordinate at the federal level infrastructure development works being carried out.

Ethiopian News Agency has showed its support for the establishment of the institute by stating, it is necessary to establish the Institute to manage the infrastructure development across the country.

The Agency added the establishment of the Institute will help to lead such activities in a coordinated manner and minimize challenges related to resource management, service interruption and environmental degradation.

The House also ratified the agreement between Ethiopia and Djibouti which was concluded for the supply of water to the latter.

The Ethio-Djibouti agreement grants Djibouti 37 Million Cubic Meter water per year and it is going to last for 30 years.

2006 performance report was also presented to the House by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.
