Ethiopia: 220 Million Birr Profit for Water Works Design and Supervision Enterprise

During the past 11 months Water Works Design and Supervision Enterprise (WWDSE) managed to secure a 220 Million Birr profit from its 42 projects.

According to the Enterprise’s Executive Officer, Shimeles Mulugeta , the profit earned during these period is the highest ever and surpasses last years by 11 Million Birr.

Commenting on the achievement Shimeles said he is excited about the Enterprises performance. He continued and listed challenges WWDSE is facing; demarcation, compensation fees, trained human power, and finances.

The Enterprise has been taking on different tasks across the country. It supervises constructions, designs and studies all around the country. It also has completed different projects such as Haromaya Sanitation Project, Kesem Melka Sedi Tremal Power Plant and the Melka Sedi Electrical Resistivity Survey Projects.

WWDSE is also expected to commence the construction of Kuraz Sugar Factory. Other than this it has designed ullele Botanical Garden, Awash Bridge and an irrigation drainage project.

45 different projects are planned for the next year by the Enterprise. Among the projects some are Lower and Upper Awash Dam and Irrigation Study, Legedadi Irrigation Study and the Kuraz Tendaho Sugar Factory.

In related news WWDSE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MWH Global which enables them to work together on domestic and international projects.

Commenting on the agreement Moges Ayalew, MWH Ethiopia Manager, said ‘’the agreement will enable both organizations to provide quality service, design and study for different water projects in Ethiopia”.

Supportive Service Deputy Chief of WWDSE, Tesfaye Kidane, on his part commenting on the agreement said the deal will strengthen the Enterprise’s performance in local as well as international projects.
