The seventh Specialized International Exhibition in Agriculture and Food (AGRIFEX) is expected to open on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and feature Italian companies. The exhibition is going to be held at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center and last for five days.

According to Fabio Santoni, who is the delegation leader and Director of NOVE Consulting Italia, eight major Italian companies with more than 50 years of experience will take part in the exhibition. He added representatives of these companies are scheduled to hold talks with Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency and Ministry of Agriculture. The discussion is going to revolve around
transfer of technology and knowledge as well as cooperation for the success of the Ethiopian agricultural transformation.

Santoni explained the companies are participating in the exhibition not for the sake of showing up but for the purpose of acting as an agent for technology and knowledge transfer. He added this might help Ethiopian agro-enterprise to yield quality products for the international market by using the right technology.

The delegation leader further noted Ethiopia will benefit from organizing international exhibitions for it has an agrarian economy and the exhibitions will develop the sector and sustain economic development via technology transfer.

According to the website of the Addis Ababa Chamber and Setorail Association the exhibition is aimed at introducing Ethiopian business enterprises and their products to the general public and the international business community. The website furthers other purposes are bring together technology suppliers and seekers and facilitate the transfer of technology in agriculture and food
sector, serve as a platform for exploring the possibilities of joint venture investments in Ethiopia, and create a forum where local and international business communities could come together and reach business agreements.
