Sur Construction Won Abiadi-Tekeze Road Project

surSur Construction, an Ethiopian construction firm, has won a bid for the construction of a 53 Kilometers asphalt road in the Tigrai Region.

According to the Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA), Sur has won an international bid for the Abiadi-Tekeze asphalt road construction. The estimated cost of the project is 2 billion Birr.

ERA has announced that Sur will be awarded the project soon and that the Authority considers Sur to be one of the local construction firms that has shown remarkable performance. Samson Wondimu, ERA’s Corporate Communication Head, has told the Reporter that the number of local contractors that involve in the road sector development program of the nation has increased. He further noted that the authority is building the capacity of local contractors in order to have more of these construction firms.

ERA is to put up more road construction bids for the current fiscal year. The projects that are expected to be open for bid for this year are Adaba-Angato, Guba-Begondi and Omo-Kuraz sugar project road construction. Ankober-Dulecha is another major road construction project that is expected to be open for bid this year.
