Ethiopia: Seminar on Promotion of Industrial Development Launched on Monday

aaccsaA seminar and workshop aimed at promoting industrial development organized by the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association (AACCSA) and Chamber Trade Sweden was launched on Monday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Speaking on the launching of the two-day seminar and workshop, Chamber Trade Sweden CEO Charlotte Kalin said Swedish investors are interested to engage in flower production in Ethiopia.

The CEO urged the need for Ethiopian and Swedish counterparts to work in collaboration to support, monitor and build capacity of stakeholders.

Swedish Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jan Sadek on his part said the economic trajectory that Ethiopia has embarked on is extraordinary.

The Ambassador said the Swedish government believes that in 10-20 years the rest of the world might look at Ethiopia and Africa in the same way as it today looks at China. To realize this, Ethiopia will need further progress on creation of an enabling institutional environment with good investment climate and a developed industrialization policy, well functioning labor markets, financial systems and institutions and supportive infrastructure, among others, he said.

Ethiopia's Industrialization Development Strategy, adopted in 2002, identifies priority areas in the manufacturing sub-sector and lay out strategies for the establishment of industries.
