The state telecom monopole, Ethio Telecom, disclosed it is set to start new services in the near future.

Commenting on the matter Ethio Telecom’s Corporate Communications Head, Abdurahim Ahmed, said the Corporation is currently testing the new services. In addition to this the 4G service is complete and it is running in line with the recently completed network expansion project.

According to Fana Broadcasting Corporate the new services will end the telecom’s reliance on foreign servers and enable it to provide app services for mobile phones using its own servers

New services that will be launched include video and voice mail services, Abdurahim explained. Ethio Telecom will also start rendering call reminder services for switched off phones.

As per the Communication Head the new services will deactivate stolen or contraband mobile devices. It will also use modern network and support smart phones.

The services are expected to be launched in the coming December and depending in their nature go as far as March 2015.
