Consultancy to provide Financial Management Technical Assistance to Development Grants Program Implementing Partners
Founded in 1961, the Academy for Educational Development is an independent, non-profit organization committed to solving critical social problems. AED's mission is to make positive difference in people's lives by working in partnership to create and implement innovative social solutions to critical social and economic problems. The organization's program areas include health, education and socio-economic development.

AED operates in Ethiopia as a Resident Charity with established offices in Addis Ababa. The Development Grants Program (DGP) is a three- year, initiative authorized by the U.S. Congress in 2008 to foster direct partnerships between USAID Missions and grassroots non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and U.S. private voluntary organizations (PVOs) little or no prior experience working with the U.S. government, the DGP seeks to enhance partners' technical and organizational capacities to improve the lives of those in their communities. Technical Assistance (TA) is provided to these organizations by the Capable Partners Program (CAP), a Leader with Associates (LWA) mechanism managed by AED.
A consultant is sought to provide financial management technical assistance to DGP grantees in East Africa (Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda).
The TA provided by the consultant will be based on requests made by the grantee to AED in support of the achievement of stated financial management goals in the organization's own institutional improvement plan. Essential Qualifications for the consultant are as follows:

Bachelors' Degree in Finance or Accounting, Post-graduate qualification in a related field is a plus, Certified Professional Accountant qualification (CPA-E). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software. 8 years progressive work experience. Consulting or management experience in a related field is a plus, Certified Professional Accountant qualification
(CPA-E). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software. 8 years progressive work experience. Consulting or management experience work with NGOs.Knowledge of United States Government regulations or experience in working with USAID funded projects. Experience in facilitating participatory technical training or workshops.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work with people of diverse international cultures and willingness to adapt to changing work demands.
