United Bank, Ethiopia to Upgrade Data Center

United Bank, Ethiopia awarded the contract to upgrade its data center, to Seven Seas Technologies Group, a Kenyan Technology firm.

The contract estimated to be worth nine million birr stipulates that the work will be accomplished in four months.

The data center will allow space for the effective functioning of the core banking system that has been implemented by United Bank according to officials.

The contract signed between Seven Seas and the bank will allow the technology firm to demonstrate the quality of its work in Ethiopia and enable the bank to have a high tech data center to enhance the automation of the bank said Mohammed Ahmed, Chief Commercial Officer of Seven Seas.

The company will provide the best quality technology at highly competitive prices and expects to do more business with the bank he said.

It is to be remembered that the National Bank of Ethiopia instructed all commercial to adopt core banking solutions in July of last year.

The use of core banking solutions is expected to achieve a nationwide electronic payment system according to the central bank’s targets.
