Ethiopia: First Phase of Road Linking Ethiopia and Port of Lugdi in Sudan Completed

The first phase of the road linking Ethiopia with Sudan, the Shire-Adigoshu-Humera-Lugdi asphalt concrete road project is is completed, according to the Ethiopian Roads Authority. The project was launched with 1.6 billion Ethiopian birr budget.

Samson Wondimu, Communication Director with the Authority,  told Ethiopian News Agency that the 324km Shire-Adigoshu road project is part of the third road development sector program. The road links Ethiopia with the Port of Lugdi, in Sudan. Construction of the first phase of the project was allocated with over six million birr.

85 per cent of the second phase of the project covering 168km, is also finalized, Samson said.

The project is expected to become fully completed in December 2013.
