Wossen Woldekidan Consulting Architects and Engineers is an Ethiopian engineering firm established in 2003. Our firm provides architectural and engineering consultancy (design and supervision) services for a wide range of uses: residential and commercial buildings including private residences, apartments, hotels, lodges and mixed-use buildings.

We also have experience in urban design and planning activities and are equipped for services to governmental and non-governmental agencies.

Our firm is set to deploy its experienced professionals in delivering well-targeted, coherent solutions to its client in particular and the recipient public at large. Our team has been involved in numerous design and urban planning activities in Addis Ababa and other regional cities of Ethiopia.

GENERAL MANAGER

The manager and lead architect/planner of the firm, Wossen Woldekidan obtained his Master of Urban Design degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1998, and his BSc degree in Architecture and Town Planning from Addis Ababa University in 1990. He is a member staff in the Urban Design Chair of the Institute of Architecture Building Construction and City Development, Addis Ababa University where he has been working as Lecturer in various departments.

Wossen Woldekidan Consulting Architects and Engineers is a consulting company established by the combined efforts of a number of built environment professionals who were working together for the last ten or so years.
Currently the team is organized into one studio and earned a Category III Consulting Architects and Engineers license.

EXPERIENCE

With more than 15 years of experience in individual capacities and as a group of conscientious professionals in the various fields of endeavor, our team is qualified in rendering high standard sets of complete services for Project appraisal, detail design, urban planning tasks on varied scales of development, contract administrations and construction supervision works. The firm does and intends to play a major role as a vehicle for exposing its technical staff to a wide range of views and varied project undertakings.

Our firm is staffed with Ethiopian nationals who are professionally qualified in a wide range of architectural, engineering and urban planning disciplines. Some of our team members have valuable experience working overseas. The professionals are from various ethnic groups and can speak various local languages and enable the company to operate all over Ethiopia.

The firm has currently eight permanent staff and employs several professionals on a part-time basis as the workload requires.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The services rendered are, but are not limited to, those outlined below.

• Pre-design stage Services; this stage is a point of project inception and formation.
• Assisting clients (investors) in the task of project identification, formulation and preparation of Feasibility studies.
• Assisting clients in project site selection and in the procurement of land and title deeds.
• Assisting clients in the preparation of the design program (Schedules of Accommodation).

Design Stage Services

The services rendered at this stage comprise the preparation of preliminary and final design in accordance with the project design program, site conditions and municipal regulations, giving due consideration to the form and function of the building. Coordinate the works of other technical professionals and compile specifications, quantities and contract documents.

Construction Stage Services

Following the bid award and signing of a contract document, our firm undertakes formal supervision works either on a periodic or permanent basis whichever is the requirement of the project. The supervision work is essential to complete the work in compliance with the given drawings and specifications.
