UNICEF Ethiopia Office is seeking Request for Proposals (RFP) – to provide Technical Services Installation and Labelling of Medical Equipment procured for Enhancing Skilled Delivery in Ethiopia Project

 1.      Background:

UNICEF Ethiopia Country Office is procuring medical supplies and equipments of more than US$ 10million through the EU-UNICEF “Enhancing Skilled Delivery in Ethiopia” project. These supplies will be delivered by UNICEF to 500 health centres and 55 primary hospital located in all regions of the country including Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa. Additional 500 health centre all also receive the delivery bed. The medical equipments include critical supplies for maternal and newborn health service provision including delivery beds and radiant warmers for newborns as well as operation theatre equipments for hospitals such as anaesthesia machines and operation theatre tables.  In order to ensure that the medical supplies are installed properly and become operational, a company that is qualified to do the task is required. The company will also be responsible for labelling of stickers to be provided by UNICEF on the equipment following installation. UNICEF will establish a long term agreement (LTA) for two years with qualified institution. Based on the LTA UNICEF will issue service contract whenever the service is needed from the institution.

2- Objective of the consultancy: The following are the major objectives of the consultant work;

  1. Provide installation service for the medical equipments
  2. Test the functionality of Equipment
  3. Train/demonstrate staff how to reassemble the equipment
  4. Label the visibility sticker on medical equipment by the visibility stickers which will be provided by UNICEF

 3- Expected background and Experience of the firm:

  • The consulting firm should be licensed for such work and registered with relevant authority
  • The firm should have at least five years’ work experience in the provision of installation and maintenance of medical equipments
  • The firm should deploy qualified staff to do the installation
  •  The consulting firm should take responsibility for any damages due to improper installation and testing of medical equipment by it staff

Due to the nature of the bid, there will be no bid public opening for this offer. UNICEF reserves the right to accept or reject part or all of any or all bids.
