UNICEF Ethiopia Office is seeking Request for Proposals (RFP) from Firm/Company/Organisation (International) – To Conduct a National Survey on Child marriage, FGM/C and Abduction-(For five months). 

Background:

The study will be conducted all over the country in all regions. For the quantitative survey, at national level, 17,000 households will approximately be covered in the sample. Sampling is done with technical support from CSA. For qualitative data, a number of stakeholders found at national, regional and Woreda/community levels will be consulted.

Methods of the study :The consultancy firm is expected to design the appropriate methodology including deciding sample size, select and develop appropriate data collection techniques and analysis in light of the CSA survey design and implementation framework. It will utilize a population survey and it will be conducted at household level and qualitative data will also be collected at community level. The consultancy firm is expected to design appropriate methods and the corresponding research tools to generate data that enables it to address the intended study objectives. 

Specific Tasks.

(1)   The purpose of the national study is to generate comprehensive, reliable, up-to-date, and concrete data on the status of child marriage, Female genital mutilation, and Abduction in Ethiopia.

(2)   To determine the prevalence, knowledge, and attitude/perception about child marriage, female genital mutilation, and abduction.

(3)   To assess the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of the survivors of child marriage, female genital mutilation, abduction and assess factors associated with child marriage, female genital mutilation, and abduction.

3. Experience /qualification of the firm and Team Composition: The assignment is open only for a consultancy firm (with valid legal registration/documentation) that qualifies based on the following criteria: - Previous experience in carrying out similar assignments on harmful practices affecting the lives of   women and adolescent girls in particular on child marriage, female genital mutilation, and abduction.

- Engage appropriate mix of professionals with background on gender, sexual and reproductive health, social work/sociology, law, and statistics and have institutional capacity to deliver the assignment within the specified period of time as indicated in this terms of reference.

Knowledge of the Ethiopian socio-cultural, religious context, language and should submit the CVs of their employees during submission of the bid for a review.
